Dr. David Andrew Pfefferkorn passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at his home in Sikeston, Missouri. He was born on April 8, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to the late Paul Pfefferkorn and Marjorie Davidson Pfefferkorn.

On December 18, 1971, he married his loving wife, Jane Burnett, who survives of the home. Together, they shared 54 years of marriage and built a beautiful life centered around their family and community.

Dr. Pfefferkorn was one of the founding physicians of Ferguson Medical Group, where he dedicated his entire medical career to practicing internal medicine. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the Cardiology Department at Missouri Delta Medical Center, leaving a lasting impact on healthcare in the Sikeston community.

Through his own personal journey of recovery spanning 38 years, Dr. Pfefferkorn and his family played an influential role in the establishment of Mission Missouri. His personal experiences inspired him to help others and make a difference in the lives of those facing similar struggles.

Outside of his professional life, David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports and was always proud to cheer them on. An accomplished athlete himself, he set multiple football records while attending Missouri University of Science and Technology. Even later in life, he remained active and continued working out three times a week at the YMCA.

David was known as a kind and caring neighbor, a loving uncle, and a devoted family man. He cherished spending time with his family on his back porch, where many special memories were made. He also enjoyed reading and driving his truck.

David will be remembered for his kindness, strength, dedication to others, and, most of all, the love he had for his family.

He is survived by his wife and four daughters, Molly Rebecca Thompson (Nathan), Corrie Jo Pfefferkorn, Abby Jane Pfefferkorn, and Maggie Leigh Pfefferkorn; grandchildren, Brylie Noe, Ellie Noe, Kylie Miller (Kaleb), Luke Pfefferkorn, Myles Pfefferkorn, Jackson David Bell, and Sidney Ray Fraley II; one great grandson, Charles David Miller, who will be born soon; many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly; and Billy Jo Fiebig his nurse for 22 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mark Pfefferkorn, Bill Pfefferkorn, and Patricia Vessel.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
