Dorothy Vera Siggers, age 93 of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Woodland Hills Care Facility in Marble Hill, Missouri. She was born January 14, 1929, in Essex, Missouri to the late James Loyd Byrd and Ines DeJournett Byrd. She had retired from Stark Manufacturing Company in Charleston, Missouri.
Dorothy's hobbies were many. She enjoyed painting by number, especially pastoral and famous art scenes. She loved to crochet lap blankets, dolls, and animals for her grandchildren. She was an avid reader of novels and always had a good book close by.
On December 11, 1945, in Charleston, Missouri she married Leonard J. Siggers, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Leonard Ray (Donna) Siggers of Grassy, Missouri and Terry (Julie) Siggers of Dickinson, Texas; two daughters, Clare Staggs of Sikeston, Missouri and Linda (Allen) Bolotte of Folsom, Louisiana; one sister, Etta Bell Boyt of Maryville, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley McKinley; and siblings Viola Watson, Evelyn Carson Goleman, Flossie Abbott, Floy Henderson, Naomi Beatrice Pyles Peltonen, Terry Byrd, and Jerry Byrd, who died in infancy.
Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be private.
