Doris Jean Baker, age 83, passed away September 19, 2024 at Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, MO.

She was born October 26, 1940 in Messler, MO, daughter of the late Carl Albert Daniels and Laura Lorene Surface Daniels.

On August 17, 1958 she was married to Billy Baker, he preceded her in death July 14, 2021.

Doris worked as a secretary for Baker Construction before retiring. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for family, and long conversations with family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Scotty Allen (Alice) Baker and Randy Joe (Felicia) Baker; three sisters, Beth Daniels (Steve) Minner, Gloria Jean Smith, and Linda Joyce Gillespie; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Carl David Baker; one daughter, Donna Jean Gerhardt; and one grandson, Josh Gerhardt.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 23, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12 noon at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, pastor Brent Horton will be officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Hammon, Johnny Griswell, Bobby Griswell, Jason Gillespie, and Heath Hommon.

Honorary pallbearer will be Poncho.
