Dickie Lynn Carden, age 73, a resident of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024. at Cedargate Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was born December 21, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to the late William Carden and Jeanette Grogan Carden. He served in the United States Army and was later employed by Noranda Aluminum for 32 years, retiring in 2012. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, kayaking, and spending time with his family at Current River. Among his favorite memories were the births of his grandchildren and spending Christmas each year at his mother's house with all the family.
On January 6, 1978, in New Madrid, Missouri, he married Shirley Young Carden, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include his children, Amber Carden and Anthony Carden, both of East Prairie; one brother, Wendall "Wendy" Carden of Dorena, Missouri; three grandchildren, Melissa Manning, Madison Smith and Bradley Carden; one great grandchild, Declan Bone; one niece and three nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Sisk; and one nephew, Joseph Carden.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024, beginning at 12 noon until time of service with military honors at 2 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home, with Bro. Martin Lucas officiating.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
