James Dawson Hicks, age 21, passed away February 22, 2023 at his home in Sikeston, Missouri.
He was born October 26, 2001 in Sikeston, the son of Randy Owen Hicks of Sikeston and Elizabeth Ann Smith (Brian) Lowe of Sikeston.
Dawson loved outdoors, fishing, hunting, playing video games, spending time with all of his nieces and nephews, and he loved his dog, Nellie.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two grandmothers, Carolyn Reynolds of Paducah, Kentucky and Betty Ann Smith of Wyatt, Missouri; one brother, Zachary Owen (Olivia) Hicks of Gordonville, Missouri, two sisters, Lacey Loucinda (Darin) Dicus of Sikeston and Kayla Sue Hicks of Blodgett, Missouri; one stepbrother, Alan (Sarah) Lowe of Columbia, Missouri; three stepsisters, Heather (Drew) Taylor of Morley, Missouri, Briana (Josh) Young of Sikeston and Beth Lowe of Sikeston; six nephews; and five nieces.
Dawson was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Edward Owen Hicks and James William Smith; and two grandmothers, Martha Lou Jones and Cora Claudette Hicks.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 28, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Stanley Triplett will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Hicks, Darin Dicus, Caleb Hyde, Caleb Meeks, Jason Allen, and Carson Allen.
