Darlene Scott, age 80, a resident of Anniston, MO, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, MO.  She was born May 11, 1944 in Charleston, MO, to the late Harry Smith and Helen Myers Smith and had been employed as both a cook and manager for the former Cross Truck Stop Restaurant in Charleston.  For many years she enjoyed working in her vegetable garden at home, and she loved spoiling her dog and companion, JuJu.  She had attended New Beginnings Church in East Prairie.

She was first married to Wilbert Brawner, who preceded her in death in 1996.  She later married Samuel Preston Scott, who preceded her in death in 2020.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Teresa Brawner of Sikeston, MO, Richard and Ofeilia Brawner of Nyssa, OR, and Ronnie and Stacey Brawner of Oran, MO; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Darlene was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Brawner and Marvin Brawner; one daughter, Michelle Bass; two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Bro. Jimmy Allen, pastor of Powerhouse of God, officiating.

Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Cartwright, Trey Thomas, Brent Jackson, James Smith, Matthew Marcum, and Charles Smith.
