Danny Ray Childers, age 74, a resident of East Prairie, MO, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Mercy Health Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO.  He was born August 9, 1949, in East Prairie, to the late Lonnie Childers and Geneva Ivie Childers.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam.  He had been employed by MRM Ag of East Prairie before his retirement. Danny was raised as a child in the former Wolf Island Baptist Church.  He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and taking rides in the country.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and also enjoyed motorcycles and trucks.

Survivors include his children, Brian (Rebecca) Childers of Highland, IL, Britton (Holli) Childers of East Prairie, and Danielle (Jim) Cravens of New Madrid, MO; one brother, Tony (Margaret) Childers of East Prairie; one sister, Linda Williford of Benton, IL; and ten grandchildren, Austin, Dalton, Bradey, Tripp, Ellie, Kaden, Brynn, Ryleigh, Laney, and Noah-Brooke.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bruce Childers; and one sister, Janet Glodjo.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Pastor Dawn Walters officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston, MO, under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kaden Revelle, Austin Childers, Tripp Cravens, Jay Childers, Kevin Baker, and Jim Cravens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Garner, Grady Williford, and Jim Pearson.
