Connie Jo Powers, age 68, a resident of East Prairie, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the home of her son.  She was born January 17, 1956, in Wyatt, Missouri, to the late Paul Lee Bryars and Esther Mae Fisher Bryars.  She was employed as a branch manager for American Home Care. Connie was a faithful member of New Beginnings Church in East Prairie.  She loved to read while rocking in her chair on the front porch and enjoyed cleaning.  She also loved working in her church.

On June 21, 1975, in Dogwood, she married Stephan Jerrold Powers, who preceded her in death January 2, 2021.

Connie is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Sabrina Powers of Dogwood, Missouri; one brother, Harold Wesley (Pat) Bryars of Charleston, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Brianna Mollice, Tyleigh Powers, and Madison Powers.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Stephan Wesley Powers; two brothers, Walther Bryars and Donald Bryars; and her sister and brother-in-law who raised her after their parents passed away, Pauline and Donnie Hale.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Shelby Chapel, with Bro. Randy Eskew, pastor of New Beginnings Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Steven Kuykendall, Jamie Powers, Sabrina Powers, Brianna Mollice, Tyleigh Powers, and Madison Powers.  Honorary pallbearer will be Harold Bryars.
