Cecil Owen (Skeet), age 91, a longtime resident of Sikeston, MO, departed this earth on July 20, 2021 to "begin fishing in the eternal lake in Heaven, where the crappie is always biting."

He was born October 10, 1929, in Dover, AR, the son of the late Homer and Molly Owen.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Emma Nance Owen, also of Sikeston; his sister, Bea Dale (Noel); and brother, J.R. Owen (Elaine) both of Russellville, AR.

Cecil is survived by his dear friend and neighbor, Dr. David Pfefferkorn, his wife Janie, and their children, all of Sikeston. In addition, he was the loved and adored "Uncle Skeet" to nieces Pamela Owen Shaw (Mike), Brittany Owen Shaw of Clarksville, AR, and Deborah Owen Ridenour (Dale) of Heath, TX, and nephews, Larry Dale (Tori) of Harrison, AR, and Roger Dale (Pam) of Russellville, AR. Reluctantly, Skeet left behind his "good dog" and companion, Shotzie II.

Additionally, he is survived by Lynn Nance (Debbie), Cewilla Pyatt, Carolyn Hawes (Clyde), Bill Nance (Berta), and many nieces and nephews on his wife Emma's side of their family (Nance); whom he loved very much.

A graveside service will be conducted by Ponder Funeral Home on Friday, July 30, at 2:30 p.m. at Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sikeston Paws in honor of Cecil Owen and Shotzie II.
