Christy Hawkins, 50, of Sikeston passed away December 22nd peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.

Christy was born January 19, 1973 to the late Bill and Carolyn Looney. In 1994, she married Dewayne Hawkins of Lilbourn.

A member of Miner Baptist Church she loved her church family and her life Group. She loved spending time helping with the Ladies Ministries team, Decorating Committee, and with the Senior Boxes team. She enjoyed her career as a social worker with Hospice, the state Department of Health and Senior Services and with Horizon Health.

After her cancer prevented her from working as a social worker any longer, she enjoyed volunteering including many hours at the Good Neighbor Food bank.

She was an amazing mother to her three children, Logan (Heather), Landon (Callie), and Londyn, an adoring MiMi to her two grandchildren, Remi and Gunnar, and a lover of her Charlee dog.

She also enjoyed spending family time with her four siblings, Richard Looney (Cody), Rachel Ritter, Alberta Penrod (Steve), Elizabeth Fiehler (Andy) and all her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister Patty Looney.

Visitation will be held at Ponder Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 26, 2023 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
