Obituary

Charlotte Ann Butler, 81, of Sikeston, MO, peacefully entered into the arms of her Savior on January 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 11, 1943, in Hayti, MO, to Alvin Foster and Omeda Bovett Foster.

Charlotte lived a life of unwavering faith, dedicated service, and boundless love for her family and community.

She married the love of her life, Ronald Gaylon Butler, on August 14. 1960 in Sikeston, MO, and together they built a life centered around ministry and devotion to God. Charlotte faithfully served as a minister's wife for 62 years, alongside her husband, pastoring churches across Missouri, including: New Life Tabernacle, Charleston, MO (8 years), New Life Tabernacle, East Prairie, MO (8 years), United Pentecostal Church, Sikeston, MO (Associate Pastor, 2 years), Christian Family Church, Sikeston, MO (11 years), Star Community Church, Fisk, MO (3 ½ years).

Charlotte was a wonderfully creative soul, expressing her talents as a seamstress for over 50 years and as a home interior decorator for 36 years. She also proudly owned and managed Imperial Restaurant in Charleston, MO, for 2 ½ years. Her artistic gifts extended to music, where she served as a choir director, recording artist, and songwriter, penning many beloved songs and performing at church conferences.

Charlotte's greatest joy in life was being a mother. She poured endless love, wisdom, and encouragement into her two daughters, Tammy Griggs (Rev. Jimmy) of Crawfordville, FL, and Gayla Foster (Rev. Scott) of Blytheville, AR, and extended that same nurturing spirit to her three grandchildren, Priscilla Brooks (Rev. Nathan), James Griggs II (Ashley), and Zachary Foster (Hayley), and five great-grandchildren, Landon Brooks, Connor Brooks, Kolton Brooks, Aaron Griggs, and Azlee Griggs. Her legacy of faith and family continues to shine through her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

A celebration of Charlotte's life will be held at Ponder Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4, 2025, visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. beginning with an opening by Rev. Nathan Brooks, Charlotte's grandson-in-law, followed by heartfelt messages and officiation by Rev. Jimmy Griggs and Rev. Scott Foster, Charlotte's sons-in-law.

Burial will follow the service at Dogwood Cemetery in Dogwood, MO.

Charlotte's extraordinary life of service, love, and creativity has left a lasting legacy on all who knew her. Her family finds peace in knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven, singing the songs she wrote to the One she served so faithfully.
