Obituary

Charles 'Bob' Robert Simpson, age 86, passed away September 6, 2024, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau, MO.

He was born January 12, 1938, in Renick, MO, son of the late Denzil Simpson and Rose Lee Martin Simpson.

Bob was a member of Sikeston First Christian Church since 1964 where he was an Elder Emeritus. He worked as a Civil Engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 40 years.

He was a co-founder for the girls' softball league, coached little league, coached church league basketball, and was also a part of the Sikeston Bowling League. He was a member of the Honors Board wall at the Sikeston Complex Park. He was an umpire for the Sikeston girls' softball league for 25 years.

His hobbies included coin and stamp collecting. He also enjoyed water skiing and going to auctions.

He is survived by his wife Anne Lorraine Simpson, they married on September 14, 1958, in Newburg, MO.

Other survivors include one son, Chuck (Ann) Simpson of Paducah, KY; two daughters, Edie (John) Erkert of Sewickley, PA and Bobbi (Brent) King of Cape Girardeau, MO; four grandchildren Emily Erkert, Anissa Erkert, Griffin (Breah) King, and Katie Beth Simpson; and one great-grandchild on the way, Roy Charles Rennie King.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, a funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Lloyd Smith officiating.

Interment will be, September 12, at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly, MO.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the American Red Cross Foundation and the Alzheimer's Association.
