Charles Richard Melton, age 82, passed away on June 25, 2023 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

He was born April 16, 1941 in New Madrid County, Missouri, son of the late Howard and Alena Ruth Reynolds Melton.

Charles was of the Baptist belief, in 1968 he joined the Sikeston Fire Department and was Sikeston Fire Chief from 1970 - 1973.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On April 29, 1960 at Shawneetown, Illinois he married Shirley Mae Noles Melton, she survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include two sons, Henry Richard (Cindy) Melton of Sikeston, Missouri and Charles William (Jennifer) Melton of Union, Missouri; five grandchildren, Clint Reynolds, Tevis Melton, Seth Melton, Jo Melton, and Charlie Melton; and three great-grandchildren, Heidi Reynolds, Mila Reynolds, and Xaevian Melton.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Franklin Melton, Noel Nathan Melton, and Benny Joe Melton; and five sisters, Jerry Dale Melton, Betty Melton, Opal Melton Jeffries, Vivian Melton, and Juanita Melton Mayacle.

There will be a private Celebration of Life.
