Charles Herman Gravil Jr. "Jay Bird", age 73, passed away May 13, 2026, at his home in Sikeston, MO.
He was born October 20, 1952, in Poplar Bluff, MO, son of the late Charles Gravil and Willa Mae Reese-Gravil.
Charles retired from Dewitt Company where he was a vital part of the company for 35 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved his family beyond measure. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He was born deaf, but he never let that stop him, even though he faced many challenges.
He married Patsy Finney Gravil on September 29, 1975, in Sikeston, MO. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2024.
Including his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one brother, James Gravil I on June 3, 2023.
Charles is survived by two daughters, Amber (Randy) Marks of Sikeston, MO, Cynthia (Melissa) Finney of Dexter, MO; three brothers, Ferrell (Trece) Gravil of Lake Cormorant, MS, Chris (Debbi) Gravil of Evansville, IN, and Frank (Marlia) Gravil of Poplar Bluff, MO; and six grandchildren, Jayden, Zachary, Matthew, Shawn, Amanda, and Caleb.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, from 11:00 a.m. until time of his funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, MO. Services will be officiated by Pastor Kyle Pernell.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie, MO.
