Byassee
March 19, 1944 – June 21, 2024
Charles Ruben Byassee, age 80, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at his home near East Prairie, MO. He was born March 19, 1944, in Dorena, MO to the late John Burse Byassee and Ruth Bennett Byassee and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church. Charles retired from Noranda Aluminum and enjoyed spending time fishing and gardening.
On February 22, 1975, in East Prairie he married Vicky Miller, who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Cole (Kristin) Byassee of Sullivan, MO; one daughter, Cassie (Chris) Sutton of Mayfield, Kentucky; two brothers, Ronnie (Paula) Byassee of East Prairie and Joe Byassee of Phoenix, AZ; and three sisters, Glenda (Adolph) Jones of Murray, KY, Karen Powell of East Prairie and Becky Jones of East Prairie. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Kaylee Sutton, Mallory Sutton, Adalyn Byassee (Mason) Johnston, Natalie Sutton, Ethan Sutton, Rafe Byassee and Pacey Byassee; and two great grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeffery Wade Byassee, who passed away June 10, 1990; and one brother, John Burse "Junior" Byassee.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Elm Street Baptist Church, with Bro. Jon Archie officiating.
Interment with full military honors will follow at East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Byassee, Mike Byassee, Jimmy Byassee, Ronnie Lee Jones, Chuck Jones, Timmy Parker, Aaron Scott and Ronnie Byassee II.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wendy Carden, John Dee Ray, Edgar Lee Pipkin and Dillard Miller.
Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie is in charge of all arrangements.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital, a place close to Charles' heart.
