Carolyn Sue Wasson, age 77, of East Prairie, MO, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Aspire Senior Living Center in East Prairie.  She was born June 12, 1947, in New Madrid County, MO, to the late Calvin Leroy Hancock and Mary Leda Wheatley Hancock. Carolyn had been a school bus driver for many years for East Prairie R-2 School District and also worked as a dispatcher for the East Prairie Police Department.  She was a member of Blessed Assurance Ministries in East Prairie.  She loved crafting and gardening.

On April 8, 1965, in Arkansas, she married Larry Cleveland Wasson, who survives of the home.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Zena Kay Burns of Dexter, MO, Evelyene Michelle Wheatley of Dexter, and Barbara Jean Wasson of Florida; two sons, Donnie Gene Wasson of Missouri and Jesse Eugene Wasson of East Prairie; and her sisters and brother, Tammy Burks, Terry Hancock, and Toni Elfrink, all of Chaffee, MO, and Robert Lee Easley of Dudley, MO.  Carolyn is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and 8 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Angie Earnhart; one grandson, Dalton Tyler Wasson; two brothers, Calvin Leon Hancock and Glenn Allen Hancock; and two sisters, Barbara Ann Miller and Debra Rose Hancock.

Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2024, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17, at 2 p.m. in the Shelby Chapel, with Bro. Stanley Triplett officiating.

Interment will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
