Carolyn Sue King, age 76 of Sikeston, Missouri, passed away September 12, 2023 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

She was born September 29, 1946 in Bragg City, Missouri, daughter of the late Marvin Gilmore and Opal Bartholomey Gilmore.

She attended Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and was a Property Manager for Virginia Pines Apartments and had been a nurse for 15 years before moving into property management.  She loved singing gospel music, cooking, spending time with family, and especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

On June 14, 1968 in Essex, Missouri she married Virgil Ray King, he survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include one son, Jason (Michelle) King of Sikeston; five brothers, Roger (Barbara) Phillips of Millington, Tennessee, Wayne Gilmore of Little Rock, Arkansas, Billy Gilmore of Sikeston, Bobby (Reba) Gilmore of Morley, Missouri, and Rick (Carol) Gilmore of Corinth, Mississippi; and four grandchildren, Courtney Kidd, Lucas King, Haley King, and Bryce King.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Gilmore, and one sister, Peggy Bess.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Friday, September 15, at 10:00 a.m.  Billy Davis will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery at Dexter, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Scott King, Bryan King, Les Cantrell, Joe McElroy, David Kinder, and Matt Bolen.
