Byrle Riley Hodge, age 78, died peacefully on August 7, 2021 at Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He was born on May 23, 1943 to the late Dave Vincent and Vivian (Arington) Hodge in East Prairie, Missouri.
He graduated from Anniston, Missouri High School in 1963.
He married Shelia Gore on January 1, 1963, they were later divorced, but remained good friends.
He had worked at Eastern Airlines for 30 years in St. Louis, Missouri and for the City of East Prairie until his retirement. He served as an appointed Volunteer Fire Fighter in East Prairie for many years.
He had a love for his family and the St. Louis Cardinals that was unconditionally.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Todd) Stone of Sikeston; his son, Kirk (Tony) Hodge of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Shala Stone and Kelsey Hodge; and one great-grandchild, Riley Kelley all of Sikeston.
Other survivors include three sisters, Ruth (Tom) Lentine of Centennial, Colorado, Brenda (Sam) Duvall of Canton, Missouri, and Clare Jo Redfering of East Prairie; one sister-in-law, Sue Hodge of Sikeston; one brother-in-law, Tom Allen of Bakersfield, California; and many nieces and nephews which he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Loula Allen; one brother, Dave Hodge Jr.; one brother-in-law, Arvel Nichols; and one great-grandson, Nicholas Chisholm.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021 beginning at 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Missouri.
