Brenda Kay Shands, age 71, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 at her home in East Prairie, Missouri.  She was born June 19, 1951 in Cape County, Missouri to the late Earl and Elaine Wilson Shackelford.  She was a homemaker and member of First General Baptist Church in East Prairie.  Brenda enjoyed reading, singing and dancing.

On June 16, 1966, in New Madrid, Missouri she married Jimmie Lee Shands, Sr. who survives of the home.

Brenda is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, who she loved as if they were her own daughters, Jimmie "Lee" and Margaret Shands, Shane and Rhonda Shands and Benjamin and Sharon Shands, all of East Prairie; nine grandchildren, Jocelyn (Lee Hunter) Marcum of East Prairie, Joseph (Hannah) Shands of Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, Joshua (Sarah) Shands of St. Louis, Missouri, Kaitlyn Shands, Kaleb Shands, Nathaniel Shands, Christopher (Madison) Gephart, Kevin Shands and Colton Shands, all of East Prairie; eight great grandchildren and one on the way, Hunter Marcum, Weston Williams, Shiloh Williams, Emma Shands, Jordan Shands, George Shands, Easton Myers and Korbin Myers; and several nieces and nephews who were close to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lavona Mae "Donie" Jackson and Pansy Lee "Pat" Jamerson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2022 beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.   Bro. Sonny Jackson  and Bro. Martin Lucas will officiate.

Interment will immediately follow at Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kaleb Shands, Nathaniel Shands, Chris Gephart, Colton Shands, Kevin Shands, Joshua Shands, Joseph Shands and Alex Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Trevor Leonard and Travis Leonard.
