Carter
March 30, 1944 – July 25, 2023
Bobby J.T Carter, age 79, of East Prairie, died Tuesday, July 25th, 2023, at his home outside of East Prairie.
Bobby was born March 30th, 1944, in the Barnes Ridge community to the late James T. Carter and Ora Eleta "Star" Carter. He grew up in East Prairie and was a graduate of East Prairie High school. After graduation Bobby moved to Wright City, MO and pursued a career at McDonald Aircraft (now Boeing) for many years. Bobby was also a preacher and an equine farrier during his time there. Bobby moved back to East Prairie where he started a trucking operation. He also owned and operated a concrete plant. For most of his life Bobby was a talented bricklayer and stone mason, in his later years this was his main profession. Bobby loved to hunt, fish and horseback ride with friends.
On November 3rd, 1997, he married Ladonna Harris Carter who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his children, Angie Zumwalt, Carma Gross, Josh Carter and Wade Carter, Bobby Joseph (Abby) Carter of East Prairie and Elizabeth Carter of East Prairie; one stepson, Adam Bollinger of East Prairie, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. All three of Bobby's siblings also survive him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Megan Gross.
Private visitation and graveside services will be held Friday, July 28, 2023, with Bro. Martin Lucas officiating.
Interment will follow at Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie.
