Billy Joe Gilliland Sr., age 89, of Morley, Missouri passed away November 20, 2023 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born January 21, 1934 to the late Miller and Bessie Rogers Gilliland. He was married to Marilyn Pearson in May of 1958, who survives of the home.

Billy was a United States Army Veteran and was stationed in Germany. He was proud of his service and was member of the Morley VFW. Billy worked in sales for Ford Motor Company for 30 years. He was of Baptist Faith and enjoyed spending time with his family. Billy was a lifelong resident of Scott County, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn Pearson Gilliland; one son, Billy (Michele) Gilliland Jr.; two daughters, Cathy Downing, and JoAnn (Terry) Daniels; three brothers, Robert Gilliland of Kansas City, MO, Leonard Gilliland of St. Louis, MO, and David Gilliland of Thayer, MO; four sisters, Janet Blackburn of Sikeston, Geraldine Colter of Sikeston, Diane Thatcher of Sikeston, and Nancy Pruitt of Morley; six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, two brothers Miller Ray and Henry Gilliland; two sisters, Geneva Dumey, and Jackie Alexander, and two grandchildren Terry Daniels, and Jacob Glastetter.

Visitation will be at Ponder Funeral Home on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service following at 1 p.m.

Interment will be at New Morley Cemetery.
