Obituary

Betty Lou Woods, age 85, passed away May 9, 2026 at her home in Zalma, MO.

She was born March 20, 1941 in Mississippi County, MO, daughter of the late Virgil Lee Husk and Kathryn Thompson-Husk.

Betty was a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church at Zalma. She enjoyed going to church, Bible Study, and going to lunch with the ladies from church. She loved spending time with family, cooking, and her cat, lex. She worked for the Tyson Chicken Processing Plant before retiring.

On November 19, 1960 at Charleston, MO she was married to Melvin E. Woods, he preceded her in death.

She is survived by four sons, Randy (Doris) Woods, Gregory Woods, Barry Woods, and Jason Woods; one brother, Jerry (Kathy) Husk; five grandchildren, Josh Woods, Laura Criddle, Amy Coleman, Sara Thacker, and Emily Engert; sister-in-law, Betty Husk; 13 great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kinadie, Kodi, Ethan, Chloe, Tyler, Lane, Landrie, Brenden, Breven, Breyanah, Kolby, and Deven; and three great-great-grandchildren, Willi, Morgan, and Ella.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald (Sue) Husk, Jack (Betty) Husk, and Terry Husk; and one daughter-in-law, Donna Louise Woods.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 16, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, MO.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery at Dogwood, MO.

Pallbearers will be Josh Woods, Randy Woods, Gregory Woods, Barry Woods, Jason Woods, and Gary Woods.
