Betty Jean Ottinger, age 84 of Benton, Missouri, passed away July 7, 2022 at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri surrounded by her family.

She was born October 21, 1937 in Alabama, daughter of the late Jim and Mary Elizabeth Brown Flannagan.

Betty was a member of Murray Lane Baptist Church and had worked as an In-home Aide for Tri-County Home Care before retiring.

On March 5, 1955 at Hernando, Mississippi, she married James D. Ottinger, he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, David (Harlie) Ottinger of Sikeston, Missouri; one daughter, Marly Sprouse of Benton, Missouri; four brothers, Alvin Flannagan of Alabama, Harry Houge of South Carolina, Robert Fowler of Pennsylvania, and Ben Goodson of Georgia; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded by two sons, James Michael Ottinger and Donald Lee Ottinger; seven brothers, Charlie Flannagan, Marvin Flannagan, Ben Flannagan, Elmer Flannagan, Eckford Flannagan, Hubbard Flannagan, and Wence Flannagan; and five sisters, Ruthie Hunter, Gertrude Stone, Katie Potts, Doris Flannagan, and Ruby Flannagan.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date, Ponder Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
