Obituary

Betty Jean Jackson, age 90 of Anniston, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022, at New Madrid Living Center in New Madrid, Missouri.  She was born December 7, 1931, in Sugar Tree, Missouri, to the late Carl Bard and Nell Tyner Bard.  She was a school teacher for several years at both Sugar Tree Ridge and Barnes Ridge Schools.  She then began her career in banking which lasted over thirty years, beginning at First Bank of East Prairie, which later became Regions Bank, and eventually working at Citizens Bank until her retirement.  She was a longtime member of Anniston Baptist Church.  In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and reading.

On September 20, 1951, in Charleston, Missouri, she married Shirley Clifford "Tommy" Jackson Sr., who preceded her in death on March 29, 2009.

Betty is survived by three sons, Clifford (Pam) Jackson of Seattle, Washington, Richard "Dickie" (Amanda) Jackson of Anniston and David (Kristi) Jackson of Piedmont, Missouri; two brothers, Harry (Rose) Bard of Charleston and Gary Bard of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and two sisters, Sharon (Roy) Dorris of Derby, Kansas and Sandy (Sandy) Pond of Portland, Oregon.  Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Ashliegh (Aaron) Bell, Richard (Ashlea) Jackson, Justin (Kelly) Jackson, Tiffany (Shannon) Lawson, Barry Furgerson, Brittany Furgerson, Travis Jackson, Ryan (Megan) Jackson, David Jackson Jr., Monica Beck and Justin (Madison) Zamzow; and thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis Bard, Huck Bard and Billy Dean Bard; and two sisters, JoAnn Murphy and Joyce Poyner.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 22, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Bro. Martin Lucas officiating.

Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Davey Jackson, Richard Jackson, Justin Jackson, Ashliegh Bell, Ryan Jackson, Camden Revelle, Raegen Revelle and Kevin Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Jackson, Roy Northern, Devin Lee and Paul Bard.
