Obituary

Betty Jean Baker, 88, went to be with her loving Savior on November 17, 2025.

She was born September 27, 1937, in Catron, Missouri to Verlie Robinson and Ivan Sandlin.

She graduated from Lilbourn High School and on March 17, 1956, she married Ronnie Baker. They moved to Mineral Wells, Texas while Ronnie was in the Army. Later, they made their home in Lilbourn, Missouri for over 50 years. She attended Catron Baptist Church for many years and later, First Church of God in Lilbourn.

Betty retired in 1996, after many years of service from New Madrid County R-1 school district. In 2010, Betty and Ronnie moved to Oklahoma City to be near their daughter and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald Baker; granddaughter, Misty Baker; brother, Russell Sandlin; and sister, Rowena Roe.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Ronnie; son, Jimmy Baker of Greenbrier, Arkansas; daughter, Tara Gilliland and husband Steve from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Dianne Pitts and husband Mike from Berryville, Arkansas; six grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place from 10:00am to 12:00pm with service beginning at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Ponder Funeral Home with burial following at Mounds Park Cemetery.
