Betti N. Snipes-McCants, age 76, passed away January 28, 2025, in Sikeston, MO.
She was born on January 7, 1949, in Paris, AR, Daughter of the late Howard William Snipes and Mary N Thompson.
Betti married James Earl McCants on March 14, 1996, he precedes her in death.
Betti enjoyed dancing, the outdoors, and camping. Spending time with family and her children and grandchildren who were very important to her. As a loving mother and grandmother, her heart was boundless. She took immense joy in the lives of her grandchildren, never missing a chance to support them at their sports events.
Betti worked for SCC as a librarian and secretary in the late 70's and early 80's. She began her career in the 33rd Circuit Juvenile office as a secretary in 1982. The following year, in 1983, she advanced to the position of Deputy Juvenile Officer, a role she fulfilled with distinction until her retirement in 2012. She was also a member of the Missouri Juvenile Justice Association. Throughout her tenure as a juvenile officer, she was not only a dedicated professional but also a loving mother figure to the children she served. Her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on their lives.
Survivors include one son, Clay (Cherry) Graviett of Vanduser, MO; one stepdaughter, Jamie McCants; 6 grandchildren; and a close friend, Lisa Lancaster.
She is preceded in death by father; her husband; a daughter, Kim Foster; and a stepson, Scotty McCants.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 4 beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, MO.
Isaiah Euland will be officiating the services.
Burial will follow at Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Don Foster, Mark Madigan, Eric Kesler, Zach Bell, Chris Stinnett, and Dan Norton.
