Barbara Jean Wallace, age 86, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO.
On October 19, 1937, in Bragg City, MO. she was born to the late James and Chlora Jones-Gilmer.
In Parma, MO on November 29, 1957, Barbara married Ronald Lee "Ron" Wallace at the First Baptist Church of Parma. Ron preceded her in death on March 17, 2018. Barb has several beloved nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She cherished moments of fixing them meals when they would visit.
Barbara was an accomplished pianist. She began playing at the age of 8 years old in church and continued to serve her Lord with music for 70 years as church pianist. She loved to spend her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren teaching them to cook was her delight. Barbara had worked for 50+ years for Bucher, Essner and Miles accounting firm as an administrative assistant before her retirement. She had a deep faith in Jesus and showed this in her work both in and outside of the church.
She leaves behind her son, Chris ( Jennifer) Wallace of Cape Girardeau, MO; three grandchildren and their spouses; Kate (Ben) Burton of Cape Girardeau, MO, Lydia Wallace (Michael Guevara) of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Maci (Ryan) Rayburn of Cabot, AR; three great-grandchildren, Charlee Kate Burton, Hudson Burton, and Lillian Rayburn. She had a close relationship with her beloved sister Sandra (Alan) Matlock lf Memphis, TN.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO, with her grandson-in-law Ben Burton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending money for her great grandchildren and their future education. The family asks that donations for scholarships be mailed directly to the Burton Children, 366 Edgewood Rd. Cape Girardeau, MO. 63703
