Obituary

Athena Zorbas, 67, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on November 20, 2022, in Sikeston, MO.

Athena was born June 21, 1955 in Newark, NJ and spent most of her childhood and young adult life in NJ, NY, and Greece. Since 1983, Athena has lived in Sikeston, MO and spent most of her summers with family in Nafpaktos, Greece.

Athena was previously married to Tom Zorbas with whom she had 3 children, Angela Zorbas and Anna Nikopoulos of Sikeston and Patty Ferssizidis of Fairfax, VA.

Athena was known for her zest for life, devotion to loved ones, love for dancing, and ability to develop a friendship everywhere she went, and we do mean everywhere. Exceptional at connecting with others, Athena was extraordinary at cultivating relationships and developed some of her greatest lifelong friendships in the most spontaneous of circumstances. Everyone touched by Athena's presence will remember her spark, her warmth and kindness, and her ability to leave a lasting touch on the lives of those around her. Athena was immensely proud of her family and leaves us rich in memories.

Athena is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Bobby Katsantonis, three daughters and sons-in-law - Angela Zorbas (Jimmy Angeletopoulos), Anna Nikopoulos (Spiros), and Patty Ferssizidis (Charlie), and an uncle, John Korologos. Athena was also Yiayia (grandmother) to: Mina, Tommy, and George Angeletopoulos, Athena Nikopoulos, and Bobby, Sia, and Alex Ferssizidis. Athena will be dearly missed by her best friend, Sharon Tolbert, and an abundance of family and friends who adored her.

Athena is preceded in death by her father, Athanasios Korologos, and mother, Anna Korologos.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 27 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, MO.
