Obituary

Artie Viola Shuffit, 94, passed away April 10, 2023, at Ozark Nursing and Care Center in Ozark, Mo.

She was born April 7, 1929, in Hagarville, Arkansas, the daughter of Luther and Ella Young Thronebury.

On April 28, 1948, she married Tony Shuffit who preceded her in death on March 6, 1990. She lived in Sikeston for 58 years and moved to the Springfield, Mo area in 2006. She worked at Associated Natural Gas for 26 years before retiring and was a member of Murry Lane Baptist Church Sikeston, Mo. and Brookline Baptist Church in Brookline, Mo.

She is survived by her sons James (Susan), Stanley, Steve (Ruthann), and daughter Kimberly (Jim). Her Grandchildren: Bradley (Paula), Amy (Chad), Joseph (Maria), Sarah, Kady (Matthew), Ellie (Kody), David (Kelly), Joe (Susan), Lynn (Matthew), Ashley (Chad), Great Grandchildren: Lyla, Violet, Sophia, Mason, Caden, Ethan, Chase, Brody, Logan, Luke, Jessie, Mason, Brianna (Josh), Addison, Cooper, Colter, Alexis, Makenzie, Jason, Owen, Ethan, Nicholas. Great-Great Grandchildren, Rudy, and Westlynn. Sisters: Blanche, Ethel, and several nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was proceeded in death by her sisters: Bell, Mary, Francis, Edna and brothers: Luther, Newton, Joseph and Edgar.

Visitation will be Friday April 14, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Mo.  Graveside services will be conducted at Garden of Memories Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
