Obituary

The family regretfully announces the passing of Arden Dell Banks, aged 86, of East Prairie, MO on January 22, 2022. Mr. Banks died visiting family in Waco Texas from complications due to surgery and heart failure. He was surrounded by loved ones and was at peace.
A.D. Banks was born in Matthews, MO on June 25, 1935. Arden was the son of Emma Gertrude (Barnes) Banks and William Bradley Banks. He was the second of five children after William Banks and preceding Betty Gore, Effie Colson and Harold Banks.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Arden held many jobs over the years, most notably at Shelby Funeral Home and Noranda Aluminum. He would embellish these experiences at length, to all who would listen.
Arden was a lifelong fisherman. Whether in the Mississippi River at Dorena, the Blood River channel of Kentucky Lake or in a neighbor's pond, he was truly happy fishing.
His true love was his 64 year marriage to Betty Sue Banks. Arden and Betty Woods married August 4, 1956, in Hernando, MS. She passed away October 18, 2020. He is now home with the Lord and reunited with his lovely bride.
He is survived by sisters Betty Gore and Effie Colson, sisters-in-law Patty Woods and Catherine Bilyeu. His loyal companion Jody will remain in Texas with family. He is survived by the memory of the community in and around East Prairie.
Visitation will be 11am-1pm Saturday February 5th, at Shelby Funeral home, and Funeral service to follow at 1pm.
Pallbearers will be Coy Redfering, Todd Woods, Charlie Marcum, James Marcum, Alex Marcum and Lee Hunter Marcum.
