Obituary

Anthony Ralph Vanover, age 72, passed away August 30, 2024 at his home in Sikeston, MO.

He was born May 19, 1952, in St. Louis, MO son of the late Lester Buddy Vanover and Virginia Metcalf Vanover.

Anthony was a proud Veteran, he served over 20 years in the US Navy. He also worked for the United States Postal Service.

His hobbies were golfing, playing cards, playing the drums, and riding horses. He loved his dog Bodie. Also in his free time he enjoyed watching the Cardinals and western shows on tv.

He married his wife Carla Jo Asa-Vanover on January 2, 1971, she preceded him in death in 2009.

Survivors include one son, Chris (Melanie) Vanover of Greenbrier, AR; one brother, Larry Voliva of Dallas, TX; one sister, Ann Dixon of Fayetteville, AR; a significant other, Sandy Anglin of Sikeston, MO; and two grandchildren Zachary Vanover and Marlee Vanover.

In addition to his parents and wife, Anthony was preceded in death by one daughter, Amy Vanover;and three brothers, Jerry Vanover, William Vanover, and Buddy Vanover

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 4, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.

Graveside services will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO at 2:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are Zachary Vanover, Dustin McCann, Kevin Vanover, Chris Jones, Donald Thacker, and Gary Cook.

Honorary pallbearers are Danny Nelson, JJ Reese, Bill Bloodworth, Scott Lawrence, and David Howard.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans Program.
