Obituary

Anna Martin Pearson, 86, our beloved Mother and "Granny" is finally resting comfortably and pain-free. She left this earth at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday evening on June 10, 2026 from her bed at Delta South.

Anna was born December 11, 1939 in Appleton, Arkansas to William Haney and Telly Martin Malloy. She was one of 11 children and was preceded in death by six brothers, Randy, George, Frank, Quinton, Jim, and Earnest "Butch" Malloy and three sisters, Henrietta Brown, Hazel Vent, and Nancy Makin. Her sister, Etta Mae Walker survives.

On September 8, 1958 Anna Martin Malloy became Anna Martin Pearson when she was united in marriage to Clyde Wendell Pearson, (Poppie) who passed away September 30, 2020.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Polivick; son, William Pearson; two grandchildren, Kelsey Malloy Allen (Gratten) and Andrew David Pearson (Elizabeth); one great granddaughter, Claire; and soon to be born great-grandson, Gratten Lee Allen II, (J.R.). As you can imagine, having had 10 brothers and sisters, there are many surviving nieces and nephews and many who have long since passed. We are sure she's catching up with each one of them at this very moment.

Many probably don't know that Anna didn't graduate from high school. Having been one of the youngest of so many children, she was needed at home to help care for her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. If you knew Anna you knew she was determined, stubborn, and strong-willed. If she set her mind on something you just knew it was going to happen. In the early 70's she decided it was time to go back to school and get her diploma. Her hard work and determination paid off when she received her GED. She immediately went to work at H&R Block working on taxes.

Being involved in sports was also important to Anna. She bowled on leagues for many years and was the pitcher for the Shady Acres Church of Christ slow pitch church league team. She had a very competitive nature that really "showed up" at friend's game nights and family events. Whether it be horseshoes with her brothers at family reunions or dominoes at Christmas, she always needed to be put in time out. She was eventually banned from ever playing spoons.

Anna was also a very talented homemaker. She loved to sew, cook and take care of children. This eventually led to opening a daycare when her first grandchild was born. She continued this service for some 20+ years. Granny and Poppie probably helped raise over 60 children in their many years as grandparents and caregivers.

When Poppie was eventually diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, she chose to retire from childcare to take care of him at home. That spoke volumes to the size of her heart and her ability to take care of others, young or old.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 15 from 4:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at Caudle Funeral Home in Sikeston.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
