Obituary

Born July 15, 1948, age 77, Alice Faye Henry passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Henry, and her parents, H.J. Mackey and Ruth Eliza (Williams) Calhoun.

She leaves behind her six children: Deidre L. Mackey, Michelle L. Henry, and Jennifer L. Reynolds (Terrance) of St. Louis; Nichole F. Abernathy (Darren) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Frank E. Henry (Tamera) of Linton, Indiana; and Elizabeth A. Rigney (Tyrone) of Indianapolis, Indiana; and her devoted sister, Hattie L. Hill of New Madrid, Missouri. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren: Alexander Abernathy, Amanda Abernathy, Tyrone Rigney, NataLeigh Mosley, Joshua Rigney, Amber Abernathy, Thaddeus Rigney (Maria), Alyssa Reynolds, and Darius Reynolds; and three great-grandchildren: Audie, Aluna, and Anthym Abernathy.

A faithful member of Greer Chapel Church for over 40 years, Alice lived a life marked by joyful service, deep compassion, and unwavering faith. She taught Sunday School, oversaw children's programs, found special poems for the kids on holidays, and served faithfully as the church secretary. Each summer, she also taught Vacation Bible School, sowing seeds of faith into the lives of countless children.

Alice was a woman of great faith who shared her testimony boldly and often. Whether in church, at home, or in the community, she never missed an opportunity to tell others what God had done in her life. Her love for the Lord was reflected not just in her words but in every act of kindness she extended.

She was an avid reader who valued knowledge and enjoyed diving into stories and Scripture alike. She also had a beautiful love for music and was known to "make a joyful noise" with her singing-often filling hearts with joy, if not always hitting the right notes.

Alice was a gifted cook, known for preparing hot meals for anyone who passed by her home. No one left hungry, and everyone felt welcome at her table. Her kitchen was an extension of her heart-warm, open, and filled with love.

Her spirit of service extended far beyond her church. She was a devoted caretaker at Hunter Acres Nursing Home, where she ministered to residents with gentle care and compassion. She also volunteered her time helping with activities at the Sikeston Convalescence Center, bringing laughter, warmth, and comfort to those in need.

Her love for children and families shone through in her many years as the Director of Just Kids Daycare, where she nurtured young hearts with patience, wisdom, and joy.

Alice F. Henry will be deeply missed. Her faith, generosity, joyful spirit, and legacy of love live on in all who were blessed to know her.
